Receiver Blanking
Receiver blanking is used by many ECM systems.
PRI prediction can be used to correctly place false targets during
these blanking intervals with good results. This clip shows
the PRED tracking an 8-element / 128-position staggered PRI
pattern. It clearly shows the effects of blanking the input
video for a few seconds. The output strobes are correctly
placed throughout the entire blanking period. When the signal
returns, the PRED automatically performs a fast re-acquisition and
adjusts the position of the output strobes to minimize timing
errors.
In each of the videos, the top
(yellow) trace of the
oscilloscope shows the video signal input to the PRED. The
bottom (blue) trace shows the output of the PRED which can be used
as the DRFM_Read strobe or to modulate a VCO.
