Correlated Range -
Velocity (CRV) Pull
This video clip shows a 4 element - 4
position staggered PRI pattern being used as the input to the PRED.
The PRED is programmed to generate a
very long correlated range-velocity (CRV) technique that starts on
the
skin and pulls inbound through many PRI.
This clip clearly shows the benefits
of using PRI prediction for generating long RGPO or RGPI
techniques. Each PRI has false targets that are placed
correctly. Traditional methods of generating pulls beyond a
PRI such as "profile priority mode" or "pipeline
mode" either do not generate false targets for each pulse or
only generate a single
false target for each pulse. Both of
these methods can adversely affect ECM effectiveness.
PRI Prediction is the only viable
method of placing multiple coherent false targets at ranges that
exceed a PRI. In addition, many radars use multiple modes such
as Low, Medium and High PRF. PRI prediction can be used to
place false targets that appear at the same range independent of the
radar mode.
In each of the videos, the top
(yellow) trace of the
oscilloscope shows the video signal input to the PRED. The
bottom (blue) trace shows the output of the PRED which can be used
as the DRFM_Read strobe or to modulate a VCO.
